A Party
We had a gathering yesterday to celebrate the launch of Grassrooted Development Consultants. An excuse for a party. People, food, rapping, singing, laughing and a splash of alcohol behind the ears.
We had representation from some large NGOs, INGOs, multilaterals and of course, grassroots initiatives. People. Good people. Friends. Colleagues. For the first time in a long time I felt like I was back in India. The vibrations were good. Things are going to happen. I can smell it. I can taste it. Things are going to happen. When people come together things always do.
The dance has changed, and so must the music… on with the dance.
ps. Maya, I still miss you. I will always miss you.

oh.. i am sad that i missed such a splash .. by the way I wish you all the best at your good job.Great minds have purposes and others have wishes….
Thanks Nadee. It was the first of many gatherings. We’ll make sure you don’t miss the next one. Look forward to working with you for young people in Sri Lanka.

About Grassrooted
Welcome to Grassrooted, home of The Grassrooted Trust. We work primarily in the fields of HIV, Drugs and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.
We believe in an integrated approach that prevents new HIV infections, ensures that people enjoy their sexual and reproductive rights, and that they live full and productive lives regardless of HIV status, gender, sexuality or the fact that they use drugs.
We believe in accurate and comprehensive information as opposed to moral and values based education that may limit the knowledge that is shared.
We believe that grassroots initiatives can be effective and lifechanging with the right capacity building and empowerment.
We believe in ALL our fundamental human rights, however unnecessary or inconvenient they may appear.
We believe in people.
The Grassrooted Trust is set up to focus on innovative programming that will contribute to improving the lives of people living with HIV, people who use drugs, people of diverse gender identities and sexual orientations, and anyone marginalized or forbidden to engage with issues around sex, drugs and culture.
Contact us for an experience that is sure to be different. Good different.
